Watercolour painting of the iconic ‘Tong Lau’ style tenement building in Wan Chai locally known as ‘The Pawn’. Historically being an old pawn shop now renovated for commercial use by bars and restaurants. The Artist worked from his own reference photos that capture a moment in time of a quintessential timeless Hong Kong street view, complete with urban traffic and the hustle and bustle of street-level activities. He is constantly drawn to scenes such as this with their many levels of detail and local Hong Kong references.
