2021
Watercolor on watercolor paper
This artwork is about the Cheung Chau Bun Festival in Hong Kong.
Cheung Chau Island in Hong Kong hosts an annual event called Cheung Chau Bun Festival (Tai Ping Ching Chiu), which includes a floating parade and a bun scrambling race. During the parade, locals carry children dressing up as different traditional characters from folk story through the streets accompanied by music and lion dances. In the bun scrambling race, participants climb a steep hill to grab bun tower prizes. Both activities are important parts of Cheung Chau's traditional culture and attract both locals and tourists.
