Impact Beyond Borders (創新無界・獨角之夢)

2025
The HKUST Piazza, with its iconic red sundial sculpture, stands as a powerful symbol of the university’s dynamic journey through time. In the artist’s imaginative vision, the sundial transforms into a radiant cradle—from which a silver unicorn leaps towards the horizon, bridging the vibrant energy of the university’s entrepreneurial spirit with the dawn of limitless possibility. The swirling, colorful brushstrokes conjure waves of talent and innovation, with the unicorn acting as a metaphor for the more than 2,000 startups nurtured by HKUST, among which ten have soared to unicorn status—each boasting valuations above one billion dollars. As HKUST celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2025/2026, this painting captures not just a place, but an era of ceaseless creation: the sundial, once a marker of time, now a wellspring of founders and dreamers, its legacy rippling outward from Hong Kong into the ever-shifting sky of global achievement.
