Wong’s Dried Foods Stall

2020
Museum Grade reprint on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm mould-made paper. Limited reprint. For six decades, Mr. Wong has been running "Sang Kee", specializing in all things dried and preserved from Chinese sausages to conpoy, jujubes to mui choy, as well as an array of nuts and grains. Sang Kee is one of a kind at the Graham Street Market, Hong Kong's oldest wet market which is facing growing threats from urban redevelopment. This painting is part of the ongoing series titled "Unspoken Stories, Unsung Heroes". Painted on location over the course of weeks, each piece brings to life real stories of (extra)ordinary people whose lifetime of devotion and dedication weaves into the rise of Hong Kong as well as the rich cultural heritage that makes Hong Kong so uniquely Hong Kong.
