Certificate of Authenticity

This painting is inspired by the observation of Kowloon Walled City Park. Before the park was built, it was Kowloon Walled City, where was an ungoverned and densely populated Chinese enclave within the boundaries British Hong Kong. The park was built in the 1990s while Kowloon Walled City was demolished, under the agreement of Hong Kong government and PRC. Besides the historical background, Kowloon City is a place related to the artist's childhood memories. As an artist experienced the Handover of Hong Kong, she chose Kowloon Walled City Park as an element and depicted a imaginary doorway between memories and reality in the painting.
