Le Mont Saint-Michel is a small island situated in the northern region of Normandy, at the Bay of St Malo. On top of the hill is the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, a popular pilgrimage destination for Catholics. It is not only a UNESCO World Heritage site, but it is also a prototype model for Minas Tirith, the imperial city in “The Lord of the Rings”. The scenery at rising and ebbing of tides is equally lovely. At low tide, tourists can see the sandy sea floor and make their way to the island via a walk bridge.
