Durga

2020
This is the sketch of Durga. one of the most revered goddesses in India. She is worshipped and celebrated around Sep-Oct, for 5 days, by the Indian community worldwide, including in Hong Kong. But the most dazzling celebrations happen in Kolkata, India, which has received heritage status from UNESCO. The event is called "Durga Puja" or "worshipping Durga". I created this work as a souvenir cover, which was published at HK Durga Puja in the year 2020. The image shows an artisan at Kumortuli (Artisan Village) in Kolkata, giving finishing touches to the clay idol of goddess Durga.
