The last days of May

2019
60x91cm, Acrylic on stretched canvas This painting was created from remembrances of childhood, walking the little lanes of the languid neighbourhood of Mumbai where I grew up. The dazzling colours of gulmohars, yellow copper pots, Flame of the forest and coral trees against a backdrop of gathering storm clouds. The torpor of the last days of May, before the stillness was shattered by the tumult of the monsoon.
