The Calling

(Ref#: 5.1)
2023
This painting is based on the calling of the prophet Samuel in the book of 1 Samuel in the Bible, describing a young boy dedicated to the temple of God that in young age listened an audible voice through his sleep, confused he thought was the High priest Eli nevertheless and after several repetitions he is aware that God himself has been calling him through his sleep. The context of the story gives an opening to that very moment when we connect with above and our spiritual awareness is opened. This series with an altar cathedral like design bathed in golden colors and grey sculpture paintings, use the technique of a trompe l'oeuille style pretending to contain a painting inside of an sculpture mold, with topics about divine moments of early childhood and childhood inspired in my son. Repeated angel figures appear in characters or in the sculpture designs adding deeper meaning to the topic represented. The work intention is for the audience to discover and have a dialogue with the painting and it’s ornaments.
