This painting is based on the calling of the prophet Samuel in the book of 1 Samuel in the Bible, describing a young boy dedicated to the temple of God that in young age listened an audible voice through his sleep, confused he thought was the High priest Eli nevertheless and after several repetitions he is aware that God himself has been calling him through his sleep. The context of the story gives an opening to that very moment when we connect with above and our spiritual awareness is opened.
