This bustling metropolis is something that cannot be confined to a single frame. Its details are too complex and varied to be fully captured. Francesco captures this complexity through simple and direct forms, creating humorous, naive visions of the city's magnificence. His striking colors portray the essence of Hong Kong's famous harbor skyline, and his strong blocks of paint represent the buildings. Smaller patches of textured color add a dream-like, ephemeral quality to the cityscape, making it something unique and special. This limited screen print is an original piece that he hand produced and signed.
Francesco Lietti visited Hong Kong for the first time when en-route to Sydney from London overland. Instantly, he fell in love with the city, mesmerized by its vibrancy and beauty. The pull of Hong Kong proved too strong to resist and he was drawn to return and stay since early 2006. When not painting in his studio, Francesco is probably riding his motorbike on the hills trying to catch a new view or travelling across Asia in search of inspiration.
