This dish is one of the very few vegetarian dishes served in Chinese Restaurants. The fillings of the dumplings are different vegetables which have been chopped up.
The pastries which are used to wrap up the dumplings will turn transparent after the dumplings have been steamed. So, the dumplings are sometimes described as 'Crystal dumplings'. A sauce such as Chinese vinegar is sometimes served with the dumplings.
