This is the first piece of “Harmony” series, which was born during my artist residency in Finland. I spent one month in the forest making art and embracing the basics of life. Every day, I took a walk to the lake and passed by some fields and cottages. This view speaks to me so much and inspired me to create this series. It is not only the gorgeous nature but also human’s footprints on it: the farmlands, the cottages, the plants, the paths etc. In the painting, I also include the two icons of my previous “My Wonderland” series, the “magical plants” and the little girl with Afro hair style. They now appear in a more subtle manner, representing human’s humbleness in front of the nature.

Finland and its people have demonstrated to me a new perspective of human-nature relationship: Human takes from the Nature, but in a sustainable way. Human intervenes, but with care and respect. Human and the Nature live in harmony with each other.

Only when we live in harmony with the nature, we will stay in harmony and peace with ourselves.
